Something kind of creepy happened to me the other day. We like to rent movies from Redbox often (not sure if they have them in Texas, but it's a vending machine with movies you can rent for a dollar and they have one at our grocery store). Anyway, last Saturday night I went up there to get a movie for us to watch that night. There was a guy waiting behind me and I felt bad because I didn't know what movie I wanted and was trying to scroll through to find one so he wasn't having to wait too long on me. Well, he started talking to me and asked if I lifted weights and I thought that was odd but I told him I do a little and he told me he does too. So he was just talking small talk to me and mentioned that he had a 6 week baby and I told him I just had a baby too-he looked like a totally normal guy-no big deal. I'm so naive half the time and just talk to people without thinking much about it. Well, I had to punch in Leland's email address to rent the movie because it's under his email account. So I got the movie and was off. Well, a few days later, Leland gets this email from someone that says something like this: Hey there fellow Redbox user. I hope you don't mind the email, I was just thinking about you the other night and wanted to say howdy. I hope you're doing well. Have a good workout....
Oh my gosh! That guy totally looked over my shoulder and memorized the email I punched in, which was my husband's by the way! Can you believe the nerve???! And he created a new account that was something like fit.friend.com. Leland was going to send him back an email to pretend like he was me and bait him somehow, but I told him to just tell him to buzz off. He hasn't emailed him back yet. What a weirdo! And he told me he just had a baby-if that's really true-I feel sorry for his poor wife!
Anyway, lesson learned. Don't trust anybody. It's so sad that you can't even really be friendly to people anymore without wondering if they're up to no good.
