Our Big 2 Year Old

We have a 2 year old ! I can't believe it! Kate's birthday was Friday last week and we celebrated with family on Saturday. We had a farm animal theme because Kate loves going to her G's farm! Sadly, her Pop (my dad) has a farm too but she's never seen it before so we'll have to take her out there soon to see the big tractors and cows. I think we're going to have a little farm girl on our hands.
So I have to tell you Kate was not herself the day of the party which was a total bummer. I don't think she was feeling good, I didn't make her lay down for quiet time that day (she's no longer taking naps but I still make her lay down for a couple of hours everyday) and I think she was so overwhelmed with all the attention. So, this will explain why she's frowning in every picture. Poor thing.

She loved her cow balloon

Sitting at her new table that mommy and daddy bought her for her birthday with cousin Pierce

Most of the pictures she was crying in them but this was one decent picture of her opening presents. I had this vision that she was going to love this part, but this is the part where she had a melt down. Oh well.

We were singing Happy Birthday to You and she looked like she was terrified! haha!

I made her cake. It wasn't anything fancy but I found these cute farm theme candles to go with the theme. It tasted pretty good too.

I decided to make it a rainbow cake and it turned out really cool looking. It was a mess and time consuming to do it this way, but totally worth it.

My brother Kyle was so cute. He found this balloon kit and practiced at home to make these balloon figures. I don't know if he meant to make this look like a flower but we were all impressed!

Kate playing with her gifts with cousin Pierce. She was feeling a little bit better by this point, when all the attention was not on her.
We go to her 2 year checkup next week so I'll post her stats then. I can't believe she's not a baby anymore. She's growing so fast and I don't know if I like that. But we're thankful she's a happy healthy, active little girl and we love her sooooo much!

Kate's Crafts

Since it's been cold outside, I thought we'd do some crafts to stay busy around here. Kate did her first finger painting today.

She kept saying "uh-oh mama" because of the paint on her fingers. At least she's trying to be clean.

And here's her masterpiece!

this next craft was making a Christmas ornament. I thought it might be a fun tradition to make one each year. This was more of me doing it than her however. Oh well she had fun making a mess!

And here it is.

Here we are making some Christmas sugar cookies. She wasn't too interested in this because I wouldn't let her do much. It makes such a mess as it is, I didn't want flour ending up all over my floors. She lost interest after about 5 minutes of this.

And of course I had to post some pictures of both of the girls just hanging out around the house.

chubby cheeks!

These next few pictures were cute to me. Her hair is a mess and she's wearing some scrubby clothes but I thought she looked so cute

I kept trying to get her to smile for me and this is what I get. Ha! She was being stubborn

New Church

Some of you have asked me if we've found a church yet after moving back to Texas. After searching for months we finally found a church home. New Heights Baptist Church is in Wylie and is about 10 mintues from where we live. (if you're interested their website is www.nhbcwylie.com) I'm so excited about it because we have been praying for God to lead us to the church He wants us to attend and raise our kids in and after visiting this one a few times along with many others, God kept bringing us back to this church and now we have such a peace and excitement about it. Unfortunately, we kept running into the same type of church everytime we would visit one. Most of them were "seeker sensitive" churches. If you want a full description on this you can read up on it at http://www.christianexaminer.com/Articles/Articles%20Mar05/Art_Mar05_oped1.html. My short definition is this....it's a big church movement that is becoming more and more popular where these churches have a philosophy of bringing as many unsaved people into their church as possible by making it seem entertaining, non-threatening, etc....by using technology, lights, big bands, loud music, watered down sermons, self-help sermons rather than really studying the scriptures all in the hopes that these unaved people will become saved. Needless to say, this is not what we're looking for and not a place where we would grow, not to mention it's unbiblical. The pastor of this church we are attending, his name is Steve Foster, reminds us a lot of the famous late Pastor Adrian Rogers. He's very dynamic and tells it like it is. We have always left feeling convicted but also encouraged in our faith. This church is on the small side so our only concern was that they might not have enough things for our kids to get involved in. But we figured they can go to AWANA at another church on Wednesdays and there are some things they do with the kids, just not as much as we were used to at our last church. Well, anyway, I'll quit rambling. But I'm so grateful we found a church home and that it's so close too! I love it when we seek God's will and He is always faithful in guiding you to it.

Seeing Double

I was just blogging about Morgan turning 3 months old (Morgan above) and realized that I took the same picture of Kate on the same couch at 3 months old and they were both taken after we got home from church in their chruch dresses. Too funny! I can see the differences in them already.

Kate at 3 months old

3 Months

Our sweet Morgan is 3 months old now! She is such a sweet baby. I could just squeeze her!

I don't know how much she weighs but she's still so petite and tiny. She has the tiniest little head. I love her little voice when she coos at us or when she flashes me her big grin with her little dimples. Sometimes she looks like she's batting her eyelashes and flirting when you talk to her. We just love this little one to pieces. She is a wonderful little sleeper now, praise God! There for a while I thought we were going to have a rough time with this. She is now sleeping anywhere from 6-8 hour stretches at night. I get up to nurse her and then she' usually goes back to bed until about 7:30am. It's wonderful! I don't have to take naps anymore..yay!

Kate really is such a good sister. She loves her baby sister. She doesn't call her Morgan, she just likes to call her baby. She's always kissing her and likes to play with her toes. Sometimes Kate can be rough and I have to watch her around Morgan, but Morgan takes it like a champ.

Sisters!

Daddy with his little girl

We spent Thanksgiving with the Wells side. Kate loves to feed the cows with her G-Daddy (she calls him G)

I'm always the one taking the pictures so I have to ask someone once in a while to take one of me with my girls

Morgan and G (I guess I didn't get any pictures of Taseen or Tassy as Kate calls her)
Well, actually that's her in the background, but that doesn't count.

The tree is up! I love this time of year!

I Just Have to Blog About This!

We painted our dining room a couple of weekends ago. We chose this olive green color which really looks more like army green but I really like how it turned out. Our only problem was we have bullnose corners and there's no easy way to figure out where to stop the paint on the rounded corners............

so we found this thing called The Blendmate. I found it online and ordered one. You put the color you're painting in one syringe and the paint color on the adjoining wall in the other syringe and as you roll it on, the 2 colors blend together so that it gives it a fading effect.
We were really skeptical but figured we had no other options and it was worth a try! Well, it looks awesome! You can't really tell where the color stops. I am so excited because we have bullnose corners throughout our whole house and now I won't be worrying about trying to tape on a rounded corner ever again!

So, if you have the same problem we have, here you go. No one seems to know about it, so I thought I'd share this cool tool!

Here's just a few pics from the last few weeks. Two of my girlfriends from dental hygiene school (and they were bridesmaids in my wedding), Traci and Holli, came over with their hubbies and kiddos last weekend. We hung out and had some chili and yummy food. I hadn't seen them since we've moved back to Texas. Unfortunately we live across the other side of the metroplex from most of our friends so it's hard to get together very often. We had a blast catching up!

Of course I had to post a couple of pictures of my sweet girls. Kate loves being a big sister. She is always going over to check on her.

About to head off to church

Halloween

I am super behind on my blogging so scroll down to see the next 3 posts if you'd like.

Kate was a cheerleader for Halloween. This was the first year we did anything with her for Halloween. Last year we were at Leland's sister's wedding. But this year she had fun trick-or-treating and looooved getting all that candy.
Morgan dressed as a ladybug. She wasn't too fond of wearing this as you can see.

We went to my aunt Cindy's neighborhood to go trick-or-treating with cousin Pierce. they have a fabulous neighborhood and here they are posing with my cousins Britton and Audrey

The wagon was a hit

Kate figured out after about the 2nd house that if she holds open her bag when someone opens the front door, she gets candy!

Leland had fun taking the girls around mostly because he knew he would be getting some of Kate's candy, so he was on a mission to go to as many houses as possible. Ha!
We had fun and Kate crashed in the car as soon as we got on the road.

Morgan is 2 months old!

I'm so behind on my blogging. Morgan turned 2 months old 2 weeks ago, but I wanted to post about it. She had her checkup and everything went great! Here's her stats:
Weight: 10lbs 8oz (50th %)
Length: 23 inches (75th %)
Head: not sure measurement but it's the 10th % which is up from the 3% it was last time we were at the doctor. So she's growing and healthy and we are so blessed and thank God for her every day.

Morgan is happiest in the mornings. Her sweet smile and cooing when she sees my face or hears my voice just makes my heart melt. I think after having my 2nd child I have a different perspective. The little things are so precious to me because I know how fast they grow having witnessed this with Kate and I know what is to come and am so thrilled and blessed to watch her grow into this little person.

Morgan is a pretty good baby. If she's fussy it's usually because she's hungry, sleepy or wants to be moved in a different position. She's getting better at sleeping good at night. Last night was a wonderful night. She slept for 6 hours straight! I woke up at 5:30am panicked because I realized she hadn't made a peep since I put her to bed at 11:30 and ran to check on her. She was just starting to stir and wake up ready to eat. I hope this continues because I'm wiped! Having a newborn and a toddler (who by the way is starting to phase out her naps I'm afraid) is exhausting and I'm getting very little sleep these days but I'm hoping this gets better soon.

Morgan is doing great with tummy time. She tolerates it much better than Kate did. She's such a joy in our lives and can't wait to watch her grow....but I am already sad that she's growing so fast. I don't know if we'll have a 3rd or not so this may be the last baby we have and that makes me sad. But life must go on!
