Barefoot and Pregnant-4 Month Baby Bump

(Excuse the tag still on the dress-I haven't worn this out yet and forgot to take the tag off-oopsie)
Today was my 16 week check-up appointment. Leland wasn't able to make it to this one because of a work conflict but all is still going well with the baby and pregnancy. I still have only gained a pound but my doctor said that is perfectly okay and not to worry, that the weight will come very soon! The heartbeat was a healthy 146 beats per mintute (thank you Lord!) and she gave me some recommendations for pediatricians since it's time to start interviewing some. I did some shopping today and bought a few outfits for the summer. I ended up getting a bella band today from Motherhood Maternity which seems to work pretty good so far. Okay, that's all the updates I have for now.

4 months

I'm officially 4 months today! All is going well so far. I'm still not really feeling pregnant yet. I wear scrubs to work everyday so they're loose and baggy on me to begin with. It's finding church clothes that fit me that's the problem. I need to go shopping but I'm not quite ready for maternity clothes yet. I ordered this thing called a bella band on the internet the other day that you slip over your regular shorts/jeans/capris and you can leave them unbottoned and unzipped but put this material over it and it keeps everthing taut and it allows you to wear your regular clothes longer. Well, I got it in the mail and realized I ordered the wrong size. I thought I was ordering a size 3 which is what I wear in my pre-pregnancy jeans but their sizing chart was showing that a size 3 fits someone who normally wears size 16-18. So I've got to ship it back and get the right size........and pay for shipping again which stinks but oh well, I still want to try it out. I'm getting a little bit of a baby bump but no one really knows I'm pregnant yet. We go to the doctor again Friday for our regular check-up and hear the heartbeat again. One more month and we'll know if it's a boy or girl! I cannot wait. I'm so anxious to start shopping and planning. We will be thrilled with either a boy or girl. Everyone keeps telling me they think I'm having a girl. How the heck would they know!! Belly pictures coming soon!

Anheuser-Busch Tour

Hey y'all. Leland and I visited the Anheuser-Busch Headquarters this weekend for a tour. We figured we better do it now since they're selling out to InBev. It was neat. We got to see all the Clydesdales in their "mansion." They are so pretty and huge too! We also went to the building where the beer ferments in these enormous kegs or something like it. It was a cool 15 degrees in there. Then we went to an area where they mash all the rice and barley malt and hops together......things that I didn't even know were in beer. The coolest part was seeing the packaging plant where it's all boxed up and put together. Something worth seeing if you ever visit St. Louis since Anheuser-Busch is so big in the city. Oh, at the end of the tour we got free beer, but of course I had to pass.

Exciting Family News

We have very exciting news in the Marten family. My brother Kyle and his wife Lindsey are pregnant too! Lindsey is due February 3rd, Kyle's birthday. We are so excited for them! So our babies will be about a month apart which is so neat because they will be so close in age. I can't wait to see if we both have boys or both have girls. Even if it doesn't happen that way, it will still be so much fun being pregnant together and having our babies around the same time! Congrats Kyle and Lindsey!!

1st Anniversary

I am so behind on my blogging! Last weekend Leland and I celebrated our one year anniversary! Time flies when you're having fun. We have been so blessed to have a wonderful first year together and we thank the Lord daily for each other. Leland ended up surprising me with a trip to a place called Big Cedar Lodge. It's on a lake called Table Rock Lake (I think) and it's just 20 mintues south of Branson, MO (about 4 hours from St. Louis). It's this really neat rustic resort that is owned by Bass Pro Shops so everything was decorated with the same theme. Our room had animals all over the wall-which was cool except the fox on the TV armoire was a little spooky looking. Anyway, it was so pretty and peaceful out there. There's so much to do like, hiking, fishing, boating, jetskiing, canoeing, golf, swimming, etc........all outdoorsy stuff. The only problem was it poured rain really hard all day Saturday, so we decided to go into Branson and do some shopping.....except all of the shopping was outlets or outdoor malls. So it was a bummer, but we decided that we'd head back home a day early because we would just be stuck in our room all day. But it was such a neat place and would go again if we had the chance.

this is us sitting on the balcony to our room looking out on the lake and mountians-very pretty!
